Men’s Basketball topped by Ithaca, 74-64
1/19/13

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men’s basketball team dropped a 74-64 decision, to Ithaca College, Saturday afternoon, at McLane Center.

As the Bombers headed into halftime with a 13 point lead (31-18), it proved to be a deficit the Saxons could not overcome as the second half played out.  Although Ithaca would only outscore Alfred 39-37 in the second half it was not enough to close the gap. For the game, AU shot 42 percent from the field, 36 percent from the 3-point line, and 77 percent from the free-throw line.

Senior guard Sean Curran (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) led AU in scoring with 15 points, while junior guard Thomas Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY/Townsend Harris) and junior forward Jason Ruback (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) also dropped 12 and 11 points.  Junior center Steve Lothridge (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Menoa) pulled down a team-high six boards as well.

Travis Warech led the Bombers posting a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Alfred (4-12, 1-6 Empire 8) face conference foe, St. John Fisher at McLane Center Saturday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m.
