Lady Saxons fall to Albany School of Pharmacy, 47-34 12/07/12
ALBANY, NY- The Alfred University women’s basketball team were downed by the Albany School of Pharmacy, 47-34, Friday evening.
AU could not seem to generate enough offense, scoring 17 points each half. For the game, Alfred shot 23 percent from the field, 33 percent from beyond the arc, and 67 percent from the foul shot line.
Sophomore guard Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored a team-best 11 points to pace the Lady Saxons. Sophomore forward Lindsay Drummond (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) and sophomore forward Shea Oleska (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse) also pulled down five rebounds apiece.
AU (4-4, 0-1 Empire 8) faces Hamilton College, on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m.
Athlete of the week
Sean Locker The sophomore from Corning, NY, took second in the javelin throw at the Oneonta State Invitational outdoor track and field meet with a heave of 51.53 meters.
Maressa Mistretta The senior second baseman from Shirley, NY, drove in what proved to be the winning run with a solo homerun in the fifth inning of the softball team’s 6-1 victory over Centenary in the first round of the ECAC South Championship softball tournament.
