AURORA, NY-  The Alfred University women’s basketball team downed Wells College in a 66-61 decision, Tuesday evening, in a non-conference matchup.

For the game, the Lady Saxons were able to force 23 turnovers and convert 19 points off those turnovers.  That would prove to be the difference as AU consistently scored 33 points each half, leading 33-27 at intermission.  Alfred shot 42 percent from the field, 13 percent from the three-point line, and 67 percent from the free throw line.

Sophomore guard Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) posted a team-high 25 points, with five rebounds, a steal, and an assist.  Junior guard Rachael Stedman (Hamburg, NY/Springville Griffith) scored 11 points (three rebounds, two steals, two assists).  Freshman forward Hailey Sick (Dansville, NY/Dansville) pulled down a team-best nine rebounds and scored eight points, respectively.

Alfred (3-2-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) next face Cazenovia College at McLane Center, on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m.
