BUFFALO, NY -- The Alfred University women’s basketball team lost against Alvernia, 73-61, Saturday evening in the Buff State Tournament consolation game.

Alfred trailed at the half 45-28. In the second half of play they outscored Alvernia 33-28, but ran out of time.

Sophomore guard Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored a team high 16 points (two rebounds) to lead Alfred.  Sophomore guard Emilea Harrison (Conesus, NY/Dansville) and sophomore forward Lindsay Drummond (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) (eight rebounds) both scored in double digits with 15 and 13 points, respectively.  Freshman guard Heather Hebert (Hilton, NY/Hilton) posted a game-high 11 rebounds.

For the tournament, Harrison received All-Tournament Team honors.  

AU (0-2-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) return to action against Penn College, on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m.
