BUFFALO, NY-  The Alfred University women’s basketball team fell to Buff State, 70-48, Friday evening in their season opener, in the first round of the Buff State Tournament.

Sophomore guard Emilea Harrison (Conesus, NY/Dansville) and freshman guard Heather Hebert (Hilton, NY/Hilton) both led the Lady Saxons in scoring with 10 and 13 points, while junior forward Sarah Federico (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels) scored three points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

For the game, AU shot 33 percent from the field, 38 percent from behind the arc, and 42 percent from the free throw line.

AU (0-1-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) face Alvernia, on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 12 p.m. in the consolation game.
