ALFRED, NY — Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island),a junior on the Alfred University women’s volleyball team, has earned Empire 8 all-conference honors.

Hall, an outside hitter, earned honorable mention from the conference for a second straight year. All-Empire 8 honors were determined by a vote by coaches, using players’ statistics from eight matches of conference round-robin tournament play.

Hall had 61 kills (.235 hitting percentage) to lead the team in conference play. She also had 69 digs and five service aces (both second on the team) and six blocks (third).

Each season, the Empire 8 honors students-athletes from each conference school, who play on teams sponsored by the conference, with Sportsperson of the Year awards. Honorees, chosen by their coaches, exhibited outstanding sportsmanship in keeping with the conference’s mission of “competing with honor and integrity.” Senior Jennifer Miranda (Bronx, NY/Academy of Letters) is Alfred’s honoree from the women’s volleyball team.

AU finished the season 3-23 (0-8 Empire 8). The Saxons return nearly their entire lineup in 2013, as Miranda is the lone senior on this year’s squad.
