ALFRED, NY -- Freshman Emma Jackson (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) and sophomore Brenna Ferguson (Destrechan, LA/Ursuline), members of the Alfred University women's tennis team, have been named Empire 8 Conference all-stars.

Jackson earned honorable mention for singles play, while she and Ferguson earned honorable mention for their play in doubles for the 6-7 Saxons (2-5 Empire 8).

Jackson finished her first collegiate season with a 4-9 record in first singles play (1-5 in Empire 8 action). She and Ferguson teamed to go 7-6 in first doubles (3-3 Empire 8).

Each season, the Empire 8 honors students-athletes from each conference school, who play on teams sponsored by the conference, with Sportsperson of the Year awards. Honorees, chosen by their coaches, exhibited outstanding sportsmanship in keeping with the conference’s mission of “competing with honor and integrity.” Ferguson is Alfred’s honoree from the women’s tennis team.
