Lady Saxons tie Wells, 1-1

AURORA, NY-- The Alfred University women’s soccer team tied host Wells, 1-1, Saturday afternoon.

Paige Stone scored the lone goal for Wells on an assist form Julie Vibbard midway through the second half. Scoring the game-tying goal for Alfred was freshman midfielder Tracie McGinnity (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) with four minutes remaining in regulation time. Neither team was able to come up with a goal in the two overtime periods.

Alfred outshot Wells 36-12. Sophomore goalie Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie) made five saves for Alfred. Savanna Duh had 23 saves in goal for Wells (4-9-1).

Alfred (4-8-3, 0-7 E8) is in action next on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m. against host Morrisville State.
