4/06/09

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Three members of the Alfred University English equestrian team competed Saturday at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II championship show, hosted by Centenary College.

Sophomore Barb Koziol (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) and senior Robyn Murray (Albany, NY/Academy of Holy Names) each finished third in their respective events: Koziol in novice equitation over fences and Murray in walk-trot-canter. Sophomore Maire Cosgrove (White Haven, PA/Bishop Hoban) placed seventh in open equitation on the flat.

One rider form the AU Western team, junior Kristen Kovatch (Lansdale, PA/North Penn), did qualify to compete (in advanced horsemanship) at the IHSA nationals, scheduled for April 23-26 in Murfreesboro, TN.
