Pfeifer earns All-American honors in skiing

WINTER PARK, CO — Lauren Pfeifer (Livonia, NY/Livonia), a junior on the Alfred University women’s Alpine ski team, has been named a United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) All-American.

Pfeifer was named a Second Team All-American after finishing 12th in the combined individual standings at the USCSA Naitonal Championships, held Wednesday-Saturday, March 4-7, in Winter Park, CO. Pfeifer placed 23rd in the giant slalom and 16th in the slalom to earn 12th place in the combined.

It marks the third year Pfeifer has been named an All-American. She was a Second Team All-American in the giant slalom last season and earned Second Team honors in the slalom as a freshman in 2007.

Pfeifer was also named a Second Team USCSA Academic All-American for the 2009 season.

Tyler Olsen The junior from Saratoga Springs, NY, won two individual races and swam on two winning relays in the men’s swimming and diving team’s win at Fredonia. Olsen won the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle and swam on the winning 200-yard medley and 200-yard free relays.

Athlete of the Week
Hannah Meier The senior forward from Rochester, NY, netted a team-high 11 points to go with seven rebounds and three steals as the women’s basketball team opened the season with am 81-42 victory over visiting Penn State-Dubois.
