Background

Biography
James Moretti is in his 11th year as athletic director at Alfred University.

Prior to taking on the duties of athletic director, Moretti enjoyed a successful 13-year career as head coach of the Saxon football team, going 70-57-3. He is second only to his mentor, Alex Yunevich, in coaching victories at AU. The quarterback for the Saxons from 1969-71, Moretti paced Alfred to a 20-4-0 record during that span, including a perfect 8-0-0 mark his senior year, the season the Saxons won the Lambert Bowl. Moretti was named AP honorable mention Little All-America twice (1969 & 71).

Moretti earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alfred in 1972 and a master’s degree in physical education from Cortland State College in 1975.

He is married to the former Susan Nagell (’73). They live in Alfred and have three children.
