Activities
Ron Higgins is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Saxon Basketball team. Higgins comes to Alfred after spending two seasons as the graduate assistant at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH. During his first season on staff at his alma mater, Heidelberg finished 23-6, won the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament and participated in the NCAA National Tournament. He is a 2007 graduate of Heidelberg University, where he was a four-year letterwinner on the men’s basketball team. He was a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree as well as an Academic All Conference selection in 2006. He was the 24th player in the history of the program to record 1,000 points and currently stands 20th on the school's all-time scoring list. Higgins is a native of Vermilion, OH, and attended Firelands High School where he earned All-Ohio, All-District, and All-County Honors. He currently resides in Alfred.

Athlete of the Week
Tyler Olsen The junior from Saratoga Springs, NY, won two individual races and swam on two winning relays in the men’s swimming and diving team’s win at Fredonia. Olsen won the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle and swam on the winning 200-yard medley and 200-yard free relays.

Athlete of the Week
Hannah Meier The senior forward from Rochester, NY, netted a team-high 11 points to go with seven rebounds and three steals as the women’s basketball team opened the season with am 81-42 victory over visiting Penn State-Dubois.
