Club Sports

One of the fastest growing areas on the collegiate extracurricular scene today, club sports and activities are very popular at Alfred University. Our club programs are all initiated and directed by AU students. While most clubs are subsidized by the University, they are largely self-supporting. Student club members are responsible for the club's organization, publicity, and fundraising, as well as for scheduling facilities, arranging transportation, ordering equipment, and keeping all financial records.

Club leaders schedule practice sessions and competitions against similar groups from other institutions and agencies. Some clubs are completely non-competitive in their activities whereas others are very highly competitive.

How to join or start a new club:
Students interested in participating in an existing club or starting a new one should contact the Student Activities office in the Powell Campus Center, at 871.2175. Members starting a new club must have their application, constitution, and tentative budget formally approved. New club formation is only permitted in sports not currently offered within the varsity sports program.

Who is eligible?
Membership and participation in a club sport is restricted to current students, faculty, and staff. Only these individuals are eligible to represent a club in extramural competition.

Sports clubs:

  • Disc (Ultimate Frisbee)
  • Equestrian
  • Hockey
  • Men's Baseball
  • Men's and Women's Rugby
  • Men's Volleyball
