AU swimming and diving teams split with RIT

The Alfred University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams hosted RIT in an Empire 8 Conference dual meet Thursday evening. The AU men defeated the Tigers, 152-91, while the Alfred women lost, 169-67.

The 2009-10 Alfred University men’s basketball team returns four of five starters from a team that went 8-17 last season. The team’s experience, and added depth, has the Saxons in position to make a run at the team’s first-ever berth in the Empire 8 Conference championship tournament.

Improved Lady Saxons hope to make mark in conference

In 2008-09, the Alfred University women’s basketball team was among the most improved of all teams in Division III. With four of five starters returning, head coach Jay Murphy is confident his team will continue its upward climb and challenge for the program’s first-ever berth in the Empire 8 Conference championship tournament.
